During manual MIG welding and MAG welding, weld spatter is difficult to avoid. Spatter consists of small metal droplets that are released from the molten pool or flung away from the hot liquid end of the electrode. These particles literally shoot in all directions and land on the workpiece, the clamping elements – if these are used – as well as on or in the gas nozzle itself and adhere there.
